Copper Nickel Bars

Copper Nickel Bars

We are Copper Nickel Bar manufacturer, supplier, exporter, dealer in Mumbai, India.Copper-nickel bars are metal rods and are solid bars containing a vast amount of copper (Cu) and nickel (Ni), and sometimes other elements such as iron, manganese, etc. added in trace amounts, may have some properties improved. Typical alloys are CuNi 90/10 (90 % Cu, 10 % Ni) and CuNi 70/30 (70 % Cu, 30 % Ni).

They are renowned because of their high corrosion resistant nature particularly in salt water environments hence suitable in both marine and industrial applications.

Key Properties of Copper-Nickel Bars

Great resistance to Corrosion:Superior resistance to seawater, brine and biofouling.Consistent both fresh and salty water.

Quality Mechanical Strength:Has strength and toughness at a broad temperature range.Could be more long lasting than copper pure, especially in a stressed situation and vibration.

Excellent Thermal Stability:Has high structural stability to heat and cycle.High resistance to changes in volume caused by changes in temperature in comparison with other copper alloys.

Antimicrobial Properties:Naturally inhibits growth of microorganisms and algae and saves maintenance cost in marine systems.

Desirable workability and welding Good Fabrication and Weld ability:It is easily machined, welded and formed into any shapes. No special welding skills and post-welding heat treatment.

Great Ductility and Workability:It is especially suitable to cold working, bending and forming.

Applications of Copper-Nickel Bars

Copper-nickel bars find a large use in those areas that require high corrosion resistance, excellent mechanical properties and high thermal stability. These bars are alloys which are usually produced with copper and at least some nickel (usually 10 or 30 percent) and usually with other elements added, iron or manganese, to achieve high performance. So, these are the primary applications:

Marine Industry:Copper nickel bars are majorly employed in ship construction and off shore platforms. They are resistant to biofouling and also corrosion in the salty water hence suitable to:

  • Water piping controlled by seawater tanks
  • Condensers and heat exchangers
  • sleeves and hulls

Desalination Plants:They are also suitable in seawater desalination plants tubing and other parts because they resist saltwater corrosion.

Power Generation:Applied to cooling systems, heat exchangers and condensers of nuclear and thermal power plants because of their reliable thermal conductivity and anti-corrosion properties.

Oil and Gas Industry:Copper-nickel bars are applied in off-shore drilling rigs and platforms where structural integrity and corrosion protection is paramount.

Coins and Ornamental:Coins and medals are made with alloys that are lower in nickel, their decorative value also makes them apply in architecture and decoration.

Automotive and aerospace:Copper-nickel is used as a high-performance automotive and aerospace part because of its strength, wear resistance and thermal characteristics

Chemical Composition of 309S Stainless Steel Pipe

Grade Composition Features
CuNi 90/10 90% Cu, 10% Ni Good corrosion resistance, cost-effective
CuNi 70/30 70% Cu, 30% Ni Higher strength and erosion resistance
Customized Alloy Varies Tailored for specific pressure or temperature needs

Conclusion of Copper-Nickel Grades

Copper-nickel grades are suggested especially where the mix of properties is required and tough conditions i.e,. CuNi 90/10 and CuNi 70/30 suggested properties of corrosion resistance, thermal stability and integrity.
